Non Functional Government

So it seems we don’t have a functional or working government in Canada at the moment. People on both sides of the issue like to spew their rhetoric without considering the issue. It has sparked high emotions and rash outburst regardless of political beliefs or demographics. The exclamations of “dictatorship” or “undemocratic” are not only inflammatory but ultimately destructive. Our confrontation system is obviously breaking down and the public is becoming polarized. This needs to be addressed and fixed no matter who is in power. How many times is the country going to go through a constitutional crisis before we finally realize that we are going to ultimately split the country if nothing is done. It’s not like we haven’t had opportunities to do something. It’s not like the issues haven’t been addressed before.

It does not really matter why the House lost confidence in the ruling party or that the Prime Minister successfully petitioned the Governor General to prorogue Parliament. What matters is that we are working within the legal frame work of our current governmental system. Now I’m going to say a few things here that show the side I have taken in the current “crisis”. It really bothers me that a Prime Minister would pull out the separatist card during the current debate. This does nothing but flame the unjustified concerns of those that do not take the time to understand the issue. It’s a blatant attempt to trigger a knee jerk reaction to support him keeping his job. I also find it disturbing the massive spin the Conservative Party of Canada are putting on this and the amount of money they are obviously spending on getting that propaganda out to the public. It is due to these reasons that I will be attending the political rally at Toronto City Hall on Saturday. Two thirds of Canadians supported members of other parties in the last election, myself being one of them. I will not tolerate my voice being shouted down by a group of people that just happen to have deeper pockets.

As for the Bloc in regards to a coalition government. I am willing to work with a group of people that call themselves separatists because by doing so we may just show them the value of being Canadian. We are all separatists if we refuse to work together for the common good. I believe in the common good and trying to build a better future. We are all enriched when we welcome people of diverse backgrounds into our own culture.

I’m going to stop here before I start to ramble. I hope to see people I know at City Hall Saturday at noon.

The BURNiNATOR

No, not Trogdor.

I went to a little Jamaican place near my home to grab some dinner. Their jerk chicken is pretty good but pretty low on the spicy/hot side. Today I asked the lady if they had a hotter version. She raised her eyebrow and asked, “You like it spicy?” Without thinking, I quickly and heartily replied, “Yes!” She went in the back and quickly returned with my food. She sprouted a big grin and said, “S-P-I-C-Y!”

I Must say, the flavour is even better but

I think I may ask if they have something in between in the future.

Punishing Their Customers

I don’t use Windows much anymore and today I’m reminded why. I have a legal copy of Windows XP Pro and I needed to reinstall on the machine it was purchased for. Guess what, Microsoft wants me to call them to activate it. Screw them. It’s faster for me to install an older version and bypass validation than it is to call them up and answer stupid questions about a piece of software that is legitimate. Punishing customers to try and reduce piracy is idiotic at best.

Maybe I’ll rethink that decision to buy Windows 7 when it comes out. I don’t need the aggravation.
